Confirel was created in 2001 with the primary objective at the time, to contribute to the rural development of Cambodia to improve the income of Cambodian farmers by enhancing the value of the raw materials of the kingdom in respect of the environment. Its products are therefore the result of a strong social and economic commitment, but also of a cultural commitment, as they are the expression of the authentic and unique flavors of Cambodia’s rich heritage.
More than 20 years later, the revitalization of the countryside is not only a necessity for the peasants. It is now urgently important to rebalance urban development and rural development in the kingdom. The galloping urbanization that the country is experiencing is not only eating up arable land. It contributes to climate change because cities consume a lot of energy and produce large quantities of greenhouse gases, which have been proven to be responsible for global warming. Curbing urbanization requires the development of the countryside to make it economically and socially attractive.Confirel wishes to deepen its social commitment by making a financial contribution from the sales of its products in France via its online sales site www.confirel.fr to associations/NGOs participating in the rural development of Cambodia.
Each association involved in this partnership will receive a code to be distributed to its members and friends so that they can use it when making purchases on www.confirel.fr, which will allow Confirel to calculate the amount to be transferred to the association.
The Codeaukhmer association, chaired by Mr. Ang Pitou, was the first to sign a solidarity partnership agreement with Confirel at the end of December in order to benefit from the company’s social commitment. In 2019, Codeaukhmer has, with the student movement “United for Samrong”, worked on the realization of the Samrong school. Since 2022, with the support, among others, of World Vision, the two partners are conducting a program to develop the educational spaces of this school. It concerns the design and construction of a library as well as the development of the school’s outdoor spaces. It has been designed and planned in consultation with village representatives, educational authorities and associations.
